I plan to install a video card with TV-out into the pci slot of my docking station so I can get a better picture when watchind DVDs on my TV.
Now I also want to benefit from the better video card for my pc work without having to use an external monitor.
Is there a way to get the video signal onto the TFT of my T21? Or is the only solution to get myself an extra monitor?
BTW I wonder if the video card will produce too much heat in that somehow cramped frame of the docking station. The fan is just a few millimeters above the board and there aren't too many holes where fresh air could be blown in. The card is a Radeon 7000 PCI.
Using PCI video card in the Docking Station
No external video card will give you a better TV picture than the S-Video out port built into your T21.
How are you connecting your laptop to your TV? S-Video to S-Video? S-Video to RCA?
What resolution do you have the external (TV) display set at?
A TV picture is of such (relatively) low resolution that it hardly tasks the video chip in most laptops.

James

My main intentention for installing an extra video card was to get a TV-out as there is no interface in the docking station and the one of the T21 is covered.
Anyway I installed the Radeon 7000 ATI with 64 MB successfully in the PCI-slot of the docking station. I can play DVD movies on TV over S-Video now using a resolution of 1024x768 with 32-bit colors. Still the motion of the picture is not fluent. (I posted another thread about this problem).
I think there is no way to get the signal of the Radeon to the internal LCD.
What I try now ist to get the infernal AGP video card and the Radeon on the PCI to work simultaniously. So I can use two monitors at the same time (the internal LCD+external monitor/TV) with ATI-Hydravision. I managed to get it working once, when I set the boot video device in the BIOS to AGP-
Strangely after some reboots the ATI system monitor would not restart. I have no idea what might be the reason as it worked before and I made no changes. Right now I only can choose either between AGP or PCI and I have to do the changes in the BIOS. The Radeon is shown as properly installed in the the hardware profile.
Anyone has got an idea?
