Breakdown & get USB floppy ... ?

#1 Post by bevross » Fri Nov 26, 2004 1:57 pm

Well, I thought that I could just use my bootable USB flash drive for firmware updates but the newest one on the IBM website ("CD-RW/DVD combo drive Firmware Update utility diskette") absolutely wants to see the update program on "drive A:" Perhaps there's a utility that will map my USB flash drive, which boots up as C: so it's seen as A: ? It's almost as if IBM doesn't want us using USB flash drives for this or something? They certainly make it hard. Perhaps it's just time to go ahead and get a USB floppy drive, for the multitude of updates coming out from IBM.

Well that stinks, if they don't offer a 'diskless' package like they do for the BIOS updates ... then by all means, yep ... you can get a gennie IBM USB floppy for like $18 on ebay,
