Hello all, just recently joined after finding this site a while back and lurking for a bit.
I have several TPs that I provide for my family (a T22, T23, T40, T41 and T42) and most work without an issue.
Ironically enough, the T41 that I use myself as my principal machine is the one with the issue.
I have upgraded the wireless from the Cisco B to an Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Wireless LAN card. Got the 1802 error but fixed that issue with Knoppix and a few commands.
The issue (and I have searched the forums) is that after each reboot, in order to connect wirelessly (WPA2), I must "repair connection" otherwise it just times out. The connection "associates" but it does not secure an IP address. This occurs both with Windows controlling the connection as well as with Intel controlling the connection.
The machine is set to dual boot with Kubuntu 7.10. Interestingly when I set it to autoconnection with Kubuntu, I lose the wireless connectivity altogether... so I need to manually connect to the network in Kubuntu each time.
It *could* be a software issue except that I use the same exact image (dd from a NAS) on each of the thinkpads I own, and each of the other T4X's all have the same cards and the same Win/Kubuntu image on their HDD and those work fine.
The T41 and the T40 have the same setup (including the latest firmware), but still the T41 won't connect the wireless without the repair step...
Not all that burdensome (there are much worse on the boards, so I'm thankful it's just this), but it sure would be nice if I could solve it.
Thanks in advance, MJM

When I bought an Intel PRO/Wireless 2915/ABG for my T41 I was having problems too. I was able to search for networks but i couldn't connect. It always failed to get the IP address from the router. Since I was already using the machine in couple LAN networks before, I had Access Connections installed. The issue disappeared after removing AC and reinstalling it again (so the wireless driver was already installed during AC installation).
However, I'm not sure if you're having the same issue.
Good luck.
