Can we use PC2-5300 ram on the t43?

#1 Post by XyKo » Thu Feb 07, 2008 10:23 am

Can't seems to find any 4200 that is 2gb/stick, and a bunch in 5300.
Is it possible to use the 5300 instead of the 4200?

Edit: My best friend, (search button) told me the answer.

It is possible. The BIOS will just clock it down.

Maybe a redundant post but I have a T43p and I am currently using a mix of one PC4200 and one PC5300 SO-DIMMs for a total of 2GB RAM. Works flawlessly without any lockups or system crashes.

Just beware of what you're putting along with that 2Gb PC5300 stick...it's not likely that T43 will boot with more than 2.5Gb, even with latest BIOS.

Thanks George. You are right, T43 only recognizes 2GB at a time regardless of the combination of the SO-DIMM capacities.
