It started out innocently with a flakey cable modem connection.
One thing led to another to upgrade/reinstall my Thinkpad's network drivers along with the Access Connection manager.
I think I was able to upgrade the Access Connection manager fine, but I was not able to install the wired or wireless (801.11 abg) drivers.
I tried both Thinkpad's software installer & Windows add/remove applet a few times uninstalling & reinstalling these drivers with numerous reboots inbetween.
The best I get is both devices recognized in the hardware device manager, but they both have the yellow warning icon (ie. unable to load the driver)
The driver files seem to exist physically on the system so there must be other dependency issue.
I suppose I can try Windows driver restore.
I could also try to completely clean the existing drivers from the system.
but if anyone know a quicker & better way to fix the problem, let me know.
TIA.
Unable to reinstall T40p's network drivers
At some point in the past, I had a similar scenario: I tried upgrading something and ended up with a non-functional wireless card.
I tried different things and the only thing that seemed to have worked at the time was the installation of the "big" bundle of the drivers and connectivity applications. I.e. There is a 29-30 MB file that contains all the drivers and also the IBM connectiona manager software. Look for it in the driver's page...
Good luck...

X200: 2.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 160 GP @ RPM drive, WinVista Business 64-bit
X60s (1704-4DU): 1.66 Core Duo, 1.5 GB RAM, 100 GB @ 7200 RPM drive, WinXP Pro
T40p: 1.6 GHz, 1.5 GB RAM, 60 GB @ 7200 rpm drive, 64 MB Video, 802.11 a/b, WinXP Pro

So my obvious things to try did not work
Without networking, the laptop is fairly useless (I suppose I can use it as a DVD player)
I should try the "big bundle of network" package.
I have to figure out how to get the file over to the laptop though.
I guess I can pickup a USB fob or wireless PC card.
If I don't get this working before the weekend, I will probably reinstall the OS. I wanted to do that but I had no reason to till now.
