ThinkPad with wings...

#1 Post by atlacatl » Mon Nov 29, 2004 5:09 pm

I didn't know where to post this, but, since I'm a T40p user, I thought the T forum is ok...

A ThinkPad with wings: http://www.dynamism.com/thinkpad/main.shtml - It's only available in Japan - I, personally, do not like it...

Do you know of any other "foreign" ThinkPad models?
X200: 2.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 160 GP @ RPM drive, WinVista Business 64-bit

X60s (1704-4DU): 1.66 Core Duo, 1.5 GB RAM, 100 GB @ 7200 RPM drive, WinXP Pro

T40p: 1.6 GHz, 1.5 GB RAM, 60 GB @ 7200 rpm drive, 64 MB Video, 802.11 a/b, WinXP Pro

Looks like an older model to me. (256MB RAM gives it away!)

Yeah...among about 10 other things...
Anyways, I thought the design was rather cool looking. I like the lacquered case too. I bet it would show marks and fingerprints like mad, even worse than the current greyish-black does. The keyboard idea is nice, though it could be annoying and prone to getting too much force on it and perhaps stress fracturing the plastic. IBM had a similiar idea for getting more keyboard with their (in)famous butterfly keyboards. It was a keyboard that expanded out sideways...hard to describe somewhat.

The butterfly was a cool design.

I hate the idea of the laquered design! As much as the current rubberized grip shows prints, it's great in that your fingers get a good grip on the lid when picking up!

You just totally overlooked the forum conveniently named "Off Topic Stuff"?

That's the IBM S30 which is no longer available. It was the only TP that was available in the asian market. I love that black piano lacquer case though. It's very classy while being contemporary.

I think I read that the S30 is still sought after for it's size/weight. Someone posted here recently that has one.
