New T40 Wireless Problem

#1 Post by Lookee » Sat Feb 16, 2008 6:22 am

Another wireless problem for my new T40...

I was having trouble detecting my girlfriend's router the other day, I tried everything but still my T40 would not detect the router which was sitting right in front of me. I thought it might be due to the same problem describedhere

BUT now I'm not too sure...

As a last attempt I deleted all my "Preferred Networks" profiles (One for my own house and the other for my parents) immediately the T40 detects the D-Link and I'm all set to go?! Strange I though but great! :)

BUT...then I get home I couldn't detect my own router (but could detects all the neighbours' in my apartment block!?) so I delete the preferred network profile that I had created for my girlfriend's router and walaa! same thing again, the T40 detects my own router right away!

Any ideas on why this might be? Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I'm guessing it must be something to do with the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B that is installed but can't be sure. I'm running XP Pro SP2 and using Windows to manage my wireless connections.

What kind of router?

I have had some incompatibilites with Linksys. A newer model solved my problem after hours of troubleshooting.

My girlfriend's router is a D-LINK DSL-604T, my own is a Dynalink RTA 1025W, both fairly new routers. I had a look around last night and it seems the DSL-604T has caused a few problems with the Intel 2100 3B installed in T-series. I might just have to go for an upgrade in wireless card and see if that sorts the problem out, either that or just keep deleting my preferred networks whenever I change to a new place.

both routers are ADSD with wireless. Please check if wireless option in config is ON.

^I think you might have misunderstood my post, I'm very aware of my routers wireless and ADSL capabilities.

The problem is that I CAN connect to BOTH routers via wireless, I just can't save preferred network profiles for both routers under windows wireless management at same time, they appear to cancel each other out. A problem I have never encountered in the past...
