Add FingerPrint Reader to T41P

#1 Post by xxxxcjxxxx » Wed Feb 20, 2008 5:09 pm

I have a t41P and i grabbed and swapped out the mouse pad piece from a T43 that had a finger print reader. from my research I need to have a biometric processor on the system board.

I did a few searches for this answer and didnt come up with much.

My question.. Is the BP built into the system board or is there a chip I can swap to use this? I have already upgraded the UltraNav driver to that for a T43P and installed the FingerPrint 5.2 software.

I have tons of these machines at work and havn't been able to swap my t41P for another P that would be better, we're only retiring the non-P T41's and T42's right now since they are coming out of warranty.

It is part of the system board. You can add the fingerprint reader only by changing the motherboard to a T42 (or T43) motherboard that has the chip. In general, it is not cost-effective. (There is also a different hard disk cage required.)
