Are all T43 Flexview 15" LCDs IPS LCD's

#1 Post by nikemen » Mon Feb 25, 2008 10:13 am

I'm trying to pickup one of these units, mainly for the screen, found a nice one, ibm NEW, with three year warranty for 699$ 2668-91U

The dealer notes it as FLEXVIEW, but not IPS FLEXVIEW. Is there a way to tell what is IN the machine?

Seems a pretty nice price, considering used sell for about 550$ or so. I'd much rather pay MORE for MORE machine and get the 3yr warranty from IBM.

Unless someone tampered with the LCD and installed a run-of-the mill non-original screen, Flexview is IPS, yes.
For the T60/T60p, an FFS (Fringe Field Switching) was also available under the name flexview.

All Flexview LCDs are IPS panels. Flexview is the IBM way to call those high quality IPS screens.

I would recommend you to check if the machine is brand new or IBM factory refurbished. If it's brand new(which should be rare now), its warranty will probably end in 2008/2009 (3 years after 2005/2006 when T43 was in production). If it's IBM factory refurbished, it usually carries some 3rd party warranty.(ie Mack)
