T41 off for repairs

#1 Post by doylnea » Thu Feb 28, 2008 9:10 pm

So, thanks to some great threads and comments here, Visa is covering the cost of replacing my system board (screen and USB2.0 problem). This shipping box is supposed to show up tomorrow. In the past I've read the following about what to include:
nonny wrote:The rule of thumb is to never send anything to EasyServ that isn't part of the problem. As a result, the HDD (and memory and CD/DVD drives and PC Cards, etc) would be safely at home and unlikely to get any nasty bumps.
Does the same still hold true? From reading posts here, and talking to the support folks, I'm 99.9% certain I'm in need of a new system board. Therefore, I should remove the HD, DVD drive etc, before I ship it to IBM, correct? I have nothing to hide on the HD (so I don't mind leaving it in there), I'd just like not to have to go through the hassle of reimaging the drive if something should happen to the HD while in transit.

What say ye experts?

The same holds true. Unless you have a specific suspicion on any part excluding the board itself, remove it.
