Where can I see the T series in NYC?

#1 Post by Pucka » Mon May 31, 2004 10:43 am

Does anyone know where I can actually see the T series Thinkpads in the NYC area?
I hate to purchase something sight unseen especially a computer where I'd like to both see and feel it.
There doesn't seem to be any national retailers that carry the Thinkpads.

I second that request... I live in Boston, so if anyone knows somewhere there, but I go to NYC often enough, so that will do too.......

In NYC you can go to RCS on the corner of Madison and 56th. Here's a link to their website:

http://www.rcsnet.com/www_site/index.cfm

If you're looking for a place further downtown, you can also see Thinkpads at J&R near City Hall and a few blocks from the WTC site. J&R has an entire block of stores (computers, electronics, CDs and DVDs, appliances, etc) on Park Row across from City Hall Park. Here's a link to their website:

www.jr.com

I would guess that there may be others, but these 2 are well-known stores in 2 popular locations.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I didn't know J&R and RCS sold Thinkpads.
Since I work on 39th & 5th I'll walk over to RCS tomorrow.

I've been to both stores, RCS has a T40 and T30 on display, J & R only has refurbished Thinkpads on display, last time they had an R40 and some older T22 or 23 series. There's a store on 5th Avenue and 39th Street that has T41's on display, DataVision, check them out.

If you find any T42's please let me know, I'd like to check them out myself.

I haven't seen any T42s on display in stores, though I haven't checked either of the stores mentioned in this thread. I plan on doing that tomorrow, during my quest to figure out if there's anything wrong with my T42 ;)

Datavision carries a pretty complete line of Thinkpads. Here's the link to the store info - it's on Fith Ave at 39th St.

Whoops - thanks for the correction  . They used to stock more, but I haven't been there in a while.

Actually, they do have a T40 15" on display. Just went there today.
However was disappointed with not seeing a T42. Any difference between the 2?

oh, it's not a matter of stocking more, the store sales told me they're not selling T42 at all.

That "T40" was probably an R50p/51. T40/41 series only have 14.1" display.
