Help with a T20

#1 Post by araina » Fri Dec 03, 2004 12:10 pm

Hi

I got this T20 2647-31U from work.

Doesn't this thing have an inbuilt NIC?

The previous owner has been using a PCMCIA card.

Thanks.

No, it shipped with only a modem installed. But you can easily upgrade to a combo modem/NIC mini-PCI card. They're widely available on eBay for around $10 shipped.

Hi James!

Thanks for the reply.

But this ebay solution wouldn't be an internal solution, would it?

Yes, it is.

There is a small door on the bottom. Remove one screw, pop out the modem, insert the modem/NIC, hook up a couple cables and you are rocking.

Just make sure you get a Mini-PCI card, not a PCMCIA card.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 88695&rd=1

Or just search for "combo mini pci" in laptop parts and accessories.

You're very welcome Araina.

When you get your card, here's the movie that shows how to install it!
