T40 Wireless chip upgrade - which one to get?

#1 Post by Sujit » Fri Dec 03, 2004 2:45 pm

I want to upgrade my miniPCI wireless chip in my T40 to support G, which card seems to be the best one to get in terms of range, signal strength, and good application/driver support?

I'm looking at the following cards from IBM's site:

73P4301 IBM 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI Adapter II $65
http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/store ... lCurrId=73

73P2801 Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG 11 b/g mPCI Adapter from IBM $59.00
http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/store ... logId=-840

I'm assuming version II of the IBM card is better then the 1st one so I didn't list that one. Any recommendations from anyone on which one is better in terms of overall connectivity?

i have both the a/b/g/ and the b card, i like the abg better because of being able to use various networks, etc...

only difference is you have up update your hotkey software and the bootsplash screen shows pentium m instead of centrino because of the a/b/g card
