Adding BlueTooth to a T42?

#1 Post by macmac » Fri Dec 03, 2004 8:46 pm

I was just wondering if I could add bluetooth to my T42?

It's a 2373-R32.

If it's any help, the Modem Daughter Card's FRU # is 93P4166.

I tried figuring it myself using IBM's part lookup, but apparently I'm not quite smart enough to do so :(

Any help is welcome, thanks.

Run a search on 'BLUETOOTH.' It can be done with most T42s - in fact, I did it with my work T42. You can order the BT card from IBM (there are two of them - get the one that works with T42s) and the long narrow stickers and one short one from them as well. Total price will run you around $100 for everything.

You basically have to take out the keyboard and your current modem is at the upper left-hand side which you will replace with the BT-version. Install the latest Bluetooth drivers and you're set.

Hit Function F5 and turn on your BT modem; I use it all the time with my microsoft BT mouse - works well.

Good luck!
