Help>Replaced broken LCD but cant get an image to appear!
Hi I replaced the lcd on my T43p (sxga), booted up the laptop and the LCD comes on (its bright), but for some reason there is no picture (no images are displayed)...
What could be causing this, since when connected to an external display the images appear ?

I got me a T43P, a T42 and a T41
The T41 never had any problems except a keyboard replacement
The T42 never gave me a problem
BUT THE T43P IS A DIFFERENT HOT & NOISY BEAST >95*C (on fire all the time/everytime)

Hi,
well it's typically just white because it is the default state for TN screens, when no power is applied to the transistors. I tak it it's a 14.1" LCD?
With that in mind, i don't think the pinout of the replacements screen is correct, i.e. not the same as your old lcd.
The cable could also have come off the lcd again.
Was the LCD an original IBM replacement part?
If it wasn't - what is the model number and manufacturer of the LCD?

If you replaced an SXGA with an XGA, I'm about 99.9% sure you HAVE to change the cable also. If it was an SXGA for an SXGA swap, it sounds like a compatability problem. I wouldn't keep trying it, I'd look for another panel. You might do other damage.

Hi everyone and thanks for replying!!!
I replaced a 14.1" SXGA screen with a new SXGA 14.1" SXGA screen bought from ebay. The screen is actually like new since it was pulled out of a T43p with a bad motherboard.
If I connect the laptop to an external display/monitor, everything works and images show up on the monitor.
Can someone please tell me if the screen could be bad, if it lights up but no images display?

Thanks joe and harry, I tried using both, the old and the new cables with the same results.
Actually my old cracked screen displays images with both cables.
I think there is something loose inside the LCD or something, but for some reason its not totally dead since it lights up
The cable is providing it with the information/signal for the images but for some reason it doesn't wanna display them.
I am not sure what to do at this point
