GREAT prices on Norton AV, other software

#1 Post by kjarrett » Sun Dec 05, 2004 6:11 am

Since my T42p's NAV will expire in a couple months, I went looking for deals on eBay, and found this seller - sysqsytems. The guy has incredible deals on legit software. I have no connection to him - just passing info along - I got a copy of Norton 2004 Pro (2 computer license) for just over $20 shipped. Just the CD, no manual or box, but who cares? He's got lots of other stuff too:

Some of the items appear to be manufacturer closeouts of last years' items, but not all. If you're in the market for AV software, I recommend this seller!

Hope this helps,

If you're getting just the CD and not the retail box, it sounds like OEM stuff, same as the monthly 'computer shows' have. And since it's sold on eBay, more risk.

I'd say those are two very big warning signs, proceed with caution.

Understood, but what is the risk? The packages are all legit. Is it technically illegal since it doesn't come with OEM hardware? eBay stomps all over those auctions regularly - at least when it comes to Microsoft products. I've gotten three different CDs from this guy and no problems at all so far. -kj-

The link won't work on my desktop and you misspelled the seller's ID, which is sysQsystems.

But the major problem I have with the whole thing is that it appears that he primarily sells Norton stuff, which I won't have as a gift!

However, 7K+ feedbacks with a 99.2% positive rating is not to be scoffed at.

He does sell a lot of Norton stuff, which is funny, some people love and others hate. Norton has never let me down and I've never noticed a performance hit. What are you using for AV?

p.s. anything from Fred yet?

When I used to use NAV before I switched to zonealarm pro suite, and the subscription would end, I would uninstall, reinstall and I would be good for another year. Not sure why, but it worked for me :D

I have been loathe to use any of Peter Norton's products since way back in the day of PN Utilities and was a devoted user of PCTools until Symantec bought them.

I think the "hates" have the field WRT NAV: http://www.gripe2ed.com/scoop/story/200 ... 8182/06280 as well as most other Symantec products.

I use McAfee and Sophos.

Raining in AC yet?
