Unable to install any ibm software and detect ethernet ports

what happened was that I reformatted my t43 (2668-6na) as i felt that it was having problems such as random freezes and other problems. and when i bought it from a vendor, it didnt have a recovery partition that i can recover to.

anyway that is not important.

after installing windows, i followed the instructions for installing from here (http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=188992) right down to the T.

but for some reason, all ibm related software except for fingerprint recognition software, refused to work after installation and rebooting. audio drivers could not be detected.

software that refused to work, power mgmt, access connection, active protection system, audio drivers

even my ethernet ports are not detected despite reinstalling all ethernet software and reinstalling multiple times.


OS is win XP SP2/

Is this a new computer for you or you had it a while? Had it been working fine and then these problems appeared?

These items all seems to be related to the South Bridge. This is a very reliable component and doesn't fail usually.
