not happy with batteryrefill.com

#1 Post by bbkat » Wed Mar 19, 2008 2:51 pm

heard about them here & sounded good. T43 battery been there a month. called for status & they told me there's a problem with my battery circuitry but I can upgrade to one of their batteries for additional cost. sounds like classic bait & switch scam so I need a reality check. anyone else heard of this happening? sorry, just got off phone, [censored] and only able to access net from my cell so not really able to search forums right now. thanks.

I've used them with the exchange service; buy one of their batteries, receive it and then send them the dead one. Have not used their "re-fill" service; send your battery, they replace cells and return the same pack back. It is possible that the circuit inside the battery is bad. What was the condition of the battery before you sent it? Did it register properly with Battery Maximiser? Did you know the number of charge cycles, capacity, age, etc.?

I sent them 2 batteries last year to be refilled. Yes, they are a bit slow - 4 weeks turnaround - but the batteries have been great. I can't really comment on your most recent experience - I don't know why a T43 battery circuitry should be bad but I also don't think you can automatically assume they are trying to rip you off. Was your battery the original IBM battery or an aftermarket battery?

I sent them an X40 4 cell battery in early December 2007 for a refill. Late January 2008, I received a generic X40 4 cell battery as a replacement, apparently they had trouble with the refill.

During the 7-8 weeks my battery was away, I emailed twice (no replies) and called twice (in a queue, coming soon).

Service and communication are abysmal. The end product, a replacement generic battery at a refill price, is acceptable.

Bottom line, unless you have a spare battery, serious patience, and lots of time, this isn't a good service for you...or me! The cost savings isn't worth it.

well, got an email from them today saying my battery shipped. whether they fixed the 'circuitry' issue or sending a replacement doesn't matter, as long as it works.

thanks for the feedback.

btw it was the original, 4 yrs old, couldn't hold more than 20% charge.
