Green volume/brightness indicator not displaying anymore

#1 Post by S2kDriver » Mon Dec 06, 2004 11:14 am

I have a T41p ThinkPad and the green indicators (which are displayed on the bottom of the screen) for the volume/brightness/etc aren't displaying on the screen anymore whenever I press those buttons. However, the volume and the brightness do change, just the indicators aren't functioning. I don't remember doing anything different or anything drastic prior to this problem. I've tried rebooting a few times, but to no avail. Has anyone encountered this specific problem before? I've tried a search and could not find anything using some keywords. Thanks in advance.

I know there is a menu somewhere to change the size of those, or turn them off. I can't find it right now, but I remember stumbling onto it at some point, so I know it's there.

Maybe they just got disabled, and you have to re-enable them.

right click on an empty spot on your desktop click on properties.

Click on the Settings tab, then click on the advanced button then click on the On Screen Display tab. There should be all your options to change everything there.

Thanks guys, for the advice.

the.vert - strangely, that option tab is only available when it works lol. When the green indicators aren't working, the tab is mysteriously missing in the advanced display settings. My guess is that the XP OS isn't fully loading it into the system when I boot up at times. I just log out and log back into my profile in XP and it works. I think I just have a ridiculous amount of processes which run at OS startup and the system can't handle all of them.

Why not just reinstall the On Screen Display utility:
