Water all over laptop, screen OK again, [WARNING: Pic]

#1 Post by DarkMark » Fri Mar 28, 2008 4:19 pm

Hi everyone,

In an act of stupidness i picked up an opened bottle of water really fast. Of course I didnt see it was opened and as a result I showered my T43p and the rest of the desk. :banghead:

I shut it down straight away, opened the keyboard dryed the outside, and everything seemed fine. Then I but the battery back pluged it in and started it up and noticed this strange mark at the bottom of the screen, see pic. Looks a bit as if water went in the screen, wenn I press against the lid, the strip becomes longer or shorter.

What is that? Will it go away? Plese tell me it will.

Actually as Iwas typing this the bar is shrinking, so maybe I got away lucky.

It might dry up, just leave it be and don't press on it.

I'd maybe try ringing up IBM/Lenovo and tell them that something is wrong with the screen. DON"T tell them you spilled water on the laptop.

This may be slightly wrong to do, but it's your best bet if your laptop is still under warranty.

Ok, the mark has gone, seems that I got away with a close shave.

idk. it's up to you to decide on the morals of it. i don't think it's an entirely huge deal. its not as if you're trying to get them to replace the entire laptop.

thats just my opinion though.

It will dry and it's possible that as a reminder you see a mark, that happened to my X60
