T41 fn+F5 doesn't turn off wireless no matter what

#1 Post by induktor » Mon Mar 31, 2008 6:43 pm

Hello

I searched he forums but not find any post exactly related to my problem so I create a new one.

About a month ago, started without warning,I cannot turn off the wireless card using fn+F5 and then click "turn off"

it still powered on.

If I try to turn it off from the device manager, the device manager freezes and all network operations freezes too (i can access the net, but i cannot access network connections at all)

after do that I can't even reboot the machine because it stays in "shutting down" and nothing happens.

I haven't installed any IBM updates, only microsoft ones.
can it be some microsoft update? if that's the case, which one? :D

thanks
indkt.

sounds like a driver issue, uninstall them and reinstall the wifidriver with the updated IBM ones.

I had problems when I let Windows Update replace the wifi card's drivers with supposedly newer ones. I don't let Windows Update anywhere near my Bluetooth or WiFi stuff, ever. Use the IBM Lenovo updates.

And personally, I recommend against using brand new updates which claim to support older T4x' but only add support for newer laptops. If there's no fix or addition for your T41, decline the update. Just my two cents.
2668-75U T43, 2GB RAM, 2nd hand NMB kybd, Dock II, spare Mini-Dock, and spare Port Replicators. Wacom BT tablet. Ultrabay 2nd HDD.
2672-KBU X32, 1.5GB RAM, 7200 rpm TravelStar HDD.
