SATA HDD in Ultrabay drive

Hi,

I've just found IBM 40Y8725 SATA HDD Adapter on eBay
(listing #360037345121)

The seller promise compatibility with Thinkpad T42p.
Anyone tried to use this adapter with T4x ?
Or it could be just a seller's typo.

I really don't this will work as T42(/p)'s uses ATA/PATA/IDE drives and not SATA and hence I believe that this is indeed a seller typo. The part you want for your T42p is the "ThinkPad 2nd HDD Adapter for Ultrabay Slim Bay" with part number 62P4554 - have a look at this eBay auction soon to end.

The eBay auction your are looking at - this one - also points to a bay intended for PATA drives ("See here for PATA HDD caddy"), but no such are offered by the seller at this time...

It is however possible to modify a T60-SATA-Ultrabay for use in a T43(/p), and use a SATA-drive in the Ultrabay (yes, in the T43!); this is discussed in the thread FS: Mint T43p 2668-H1U 15" UXGA - see the post of Sat Aug 11, 2007, the part: "About usable Ultrabay-storage in T43’s".
