Thinkpad T41 Battery and charging problem

In my laptop, as soon as, I insert the battery, the charging LED is always on green when fully charged or yellow when partially, even the unit is switched off. Good battery, which I get charged using another laptop.
If I connect the charger, the battery does not charge whether the laptop is on or off.

If the laptop pwered with the charger only, no battery in, the charging LED does not lit on.

Otherwise the Laptop function properly.

Can somebody please tell me whether this is
a) Powerjack problem
b) Motherboard problem

I am experiencing the same problem with a R51. When the battery is in and the laptop off with no A/C the LED shows green. When it is running with no A/C the LED ir orange and it shows charging. It looks like it is showing the reverse of what it is supposed to. Any ideas?

That's the first question to be answered since non-OEM batteries are famous for not being fully compatible with the original batteries.

I tested with 2 original batteries one of which was brand new.

So far I replaced the ADP3206 and the FSD6990 to no effect. With the machine turned off with no AC and juice in the battery the Battery LED shows Orange like it is charging but instead it is discharging. The unit works fine on AC. However, after running for a couple of hours I get random on AC / off AC beeps like something is loose and or warming up.

Anymore ideas?
