Rattly keyboard @ arrow buttons

#1 Post by amdaman » Thu Apr 10, 2008 3:23 am

Why does my kepboard rattle in the corner where the arrow buttons are? It's like it's not flush and there is movement when you press the arrow buttons?

I'm tempted to jam something under it.

It's installed correctly and it's tucked under the palm rest as it should be.

As long as you are sure its set properly.. I would say take it out and put it back fresh.. if not , did you pull off the keys? Are the pieces that go into the grooves on the base of the keyboard in correctly and its connected to the key correctly? It seems funny its only in one place unless you use your arrow buttons a lot? I'd say pull the keyboard, take a peek close up and then place it back down. See if it clicks/rattles while its out of the thing too

I had the same problem with my T40.

Folded an A4 size paper multiple times, and putted in underneath the arrow keys. Now it isn't wobbly anymore

Yes, you put a credit card sized plastic vertically in the right lower corner and the install the keyboard make sure it fits nicely under the palmrest, and while installing it hold the laptop vertically so that when you are putting the back screws attached to the keyboard the card would stay on its position. works like a charm.

Keyboard on my T41 used to rattle. In my case, it turned out to be a few loose screws as well as two that were in the wrong place. I'd remove the keyboard, make sure there are no obstructions under it and then re-install it making sure each screw matches the number next to the hole in the case.
