14.1TFT SXGA+ quality

#1 Post by IR0NMAN » Wed Dec 08, 2004 4:08 pm

Hi, I had the chance to play with a DELL 600M and found the LCD quality to be really bad (bad viewing angles, bad contrast). Since I know only 2 company that sells 14.1 SXGA screen (IBM and DELL), does anyone know if the LCD in the T42 is the same one in the 600m?

Well, Samsung makes IBMs. So, I leave the Dell part up to you.

I don't know as far as comparison, but I have a 14.1 SXGA+ and it looks great. Bright and crisp. I stare at it all day sometimes, and I still like it.

The T42's LCD has a way better viewing angle than the Dell D600/600M does.

ive got the 14" sxga+ and i have to say its a little dissapointing. i had a 600m before and its only slightly better when it comes to colors. its a little washed out compared to some of the other lcd's ive seen.

I've a 14.1" TFT SXGA+ on my T42p as well. I friend that was sitting besides me told me that the viewing angle isn't that great of my display... Well... *g* I never sit BESIDE my Laptop to view the screen - alsways in front of it.
Yes, the viewing angle isn't as great as I've already seen it on stand-alone LCDs but I don't care.
It's crystal clear. Colour reproduction? Hmmm... I have not noticed something remarkable about it as long as you sit in front of the notebook and have the LCD tilted to the correct position.

I had a 2378FVU with 14.1 sxga+. It looks normal. Then one day I opened microsoft word and didn't have a file open. As you guys know, in this case, there is this grey background in the word windows. At that time, I noticed that brightness on part of the screen is not uniform. There is a big O-like circle. Then, I changed the default desktop background to a pure color with RGB values R=0, G=78, B=152. Now the circle is noticable even on the desktop.

I had it returned and got another 2378FVU. Now the screeen looks ok.

Just some thoughts how people can check their screen.

cheers,
