T40 space bar

#1 Post by rdc1534 » Wed Apr 23, 2008 9:24 am

Anyone have any ideas about space bar that only works if you touch directly in middle. If you touch either end you do not get a space.
Thanks

Yes I had a similar issue with my Compaq Evo N600C. It can come from worn out components or from excessive use. When i removed the keyboard assembly, I found that the keyboard was "bowed" from use and the contact points were not making full contact when I hit the space bar from either side. Rather than trying to fix the issue, I simply purchased a replacement board. This completely resolved the issue. ;)

I've had problems with "lazy" keys caused by junk under the key. Carefully shake and blow it out, and the key works.
