Laptop's resolution changes when I close it
Laptop's resolution changes when I close it
I made this same thread over at Geekstogo, and they were unable to help, but recommended I ask here. (http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Laptops- ... 87476.html)
Anyway, when I close the lid on my laptop, the resolution of the screen changes to... something really small. I think it might be 800x600? Anyway, it's normally set to 1400xwhatever, and when it opens back up, it flickers back to normal-resolution, after bumping my windows towards the top-left of the screen. This is just annoying, and if there's a way to fix it, I'd like to do so. It wasn't like this before, but recently my hard-drive died, and I had to get a new image. All the things I've tried so far are mentioned in the Geekstogo thread. Any advice?

This issue is discussed further in this thread. There are some workarounds available.
T42(p) 2379-DXU | 15" FlexView, 2.0 GHz, 2 GB, 128 MB FireGL T2 mobo, UJ-842 Multi-Burner, 100 GB 7200 RPM, Dock II

Tried this solution, and that was a BAD idea. The old drivers only supported 640x480 resolution for some reason, so I had to navigate on windows I could barely use until I managed to find the newer drivers again (see: the drivers I had already been using, which are still having problems).Zender wrote:These are the latest:

This problem has been reported for many ThinkPad models, and there may be help in one or more of these threads: resolution changes while closing LCD lid or LCD resolution changes when I close the screen or Closing lid forces desktop to 1024x768 or Resolution Shift or Closing lid changes resolution on my X41.

This fix worked just fine for me on my T43. You might have to change your resolution after installing the older drivers. Ensure you uninstall the newer (flawed) drivers. Wait ... what video card does the T43p have?AniDanny wrote:Tried this solution, and that was a BAD idea. Read the release notes on driver updates. Some drivers which are compatible with the T60 are backward compatible (so they say!) with some of the late model T43s, etc. I suspect that's what introduced the problem: new drivers for T60s and T40s, which introduced a problem on T43s which wasn't high-priority to fix.
