error 0x0000007b

I want to use my HDD that I had in my T30 in my T42. when I start my T42, Windows xp gives me error 0x0000007b. Is there a way to continue? I have the T42 recovery CDs if needed. Thank you in advance for the help.
PS: before removing the HDD from the t30, I uninstalled the driver for the screen driver (display adapter) and turned it of. Then installed the HDD in the T42.

I'd guess that the differences in chipsets/architecture/drivers/controllers are significantly different between the two machines, thus preventing XP from starting. I'd start with a fresh install on the T42.

I would like to keep all program and file that I have and I have no PC with a HDD big anough to save it and do a fresh install.

Your T30 has a CDRW...use it. Better yet, put the drive back in the T30, create a backup partition on it, and move all of your data to it. Just make sure you don't delete it or format it when you install XP.

I understand what you say but I don't know how to do it. I have a program called Acronis image home. I think I can use it but I am not sure what to select (files & programs) and where to copy. I am trying to learn but it isn't easy all the time.

Method 1: Perform an in-place upgrade of Windows XP
Windows may not be 100% stable after that, but at least you can keep your programs.
Then do a bit of fine-tuning.

Install Acronis on the HD while it is in your T30, start it, select Backup and follow the Wizard.
Select 'whole hard disk'. AFAIK Acronis will create a hidden partition to store it's Backup if there is only one partition on that HD, OR writes to CDs/DVDs.
Alternatively, buy a new HD for your PC (or the future new HD for your T30) and backup on that.
You need that backup in case things (start to) go wrong.

Good advice as usual from RBS. To the OP, one more thing I forgot to ask...can you get into safe mode when the drive is on the T42? If yes, there is hope.

No option are working, safe mode or any other one. I will just start fresh and use an other HDD and install from recovery CD a new install. Then install my T30 HDD in the secondary caddy and copy programs and file .

OK, so your T30-XP does not work in a T42.
Proceed with the Acronis backup, place HD in T42, and do the XP-upgrade as described by M$ above.
For this you need to insert your XP CD and boot from it.
How hard can that be?
