Data compression on a T42 with XP
Data compression on a T42 with XP
My T42 has a 40GB HDD in it, onto which I would like to place an extra (data) partition. I noticed, when I defragmented it, that the utility didn't compress C:, but left its contents spread all over the partition. Is there a utility in XP which will perform compression - I haven't managed to find one after an initial search? There will otherwise be insufficient room for another partition on the HDD.

) days of 2000-Pro (perhaps XP - or IBM - specificly prohibits comression??) Thanks.

I've used Partition Magic before with both good and bad results. Be forwarned that before attempting to resize your drive with ANY utility, you back up your data to another place... CD, DVD, another computer, etc. If the resizing doesn't go right, you won't be able to boot and you will more than likely lose your data.
