My battery started to develop a strange behavior since last weekend. It only charges to 72% and then stays there.
I tried to completely drain and recharge. It only goes to 72%.
Does anyone know what is going on?
SW or HW problem?
It is a 6 cell and quite old (holds 30 minutes).
Is it at its life's end already?
T40 battery loading only until 72% - why?

I would guess... YES! A new 6 cell can last anywhere from 4-6 hours (according to the battery meter), but normally when new it should go at least 4.5 hours under normal use. 30 minutes seems already in the grave! It is a 6 cell and quite old (holds 30 minutes).

How many charge cycles are on the battery? It must be quite a bit for it to only hold 30 minutes.

I think one of the six cells inside is broken, i have seen this problem earlier with an other laptop. The bad cell also caused the percent indicator to be incorrect.
You can check with Battery MaxiMiser how many cycles your battery has been trough.
I think it is time for a new battery

You've answered your own question. But you probably just wanted 2nd opinions, so here's mine ... "It's dead, Jim." I have UltraBay Slim batteries that last longer than that.beeblebrox wrote:My battery started to develop a strange behavior ....

The # of cycles listed the battery details tab of Power Manager will tell you ... depending on version, will also tell you charge capacity versus design (new condition) capacity.
Time to look for batteries on e-bay, friend.
