Fixing generic Hitachi to work in R52/T43

#1 Post by richk » Wed May 14, 2008 9:07 pm

I am trying to flash an OEM HTS541040G9AT00 to work in an R52. This is a drive model I've used before and flashed before, but I cannot get the process to work. The update program from IBM/Lenovo has been "improved" and I just cannot get it to work. If anybody has any insights, it will save me throwing the 2 R52 machines I have here down the stairs. I can get past the generic update process and just run hfui14, but I just cannot get it to work.

Thanks

Rich, Hitachi firmware release 11 is supposed to support that drive. Is that the release that you are using?

It's on this diskette -
fwhd3414.exe 996,649 (Disk 14 of 18 ) 2.5 inch Hard Disk Drive Firmware Update Utility

Thanks, but that is the first thing I tried. It keeps complaining about OEM vs IBM.

I found a solution. It is on page 15 of the long sticky thread.
