Video driver upgrade kills calibration

#1 Post by ATJ » Thu May 15, 2008 8:07 pm

G'day,

I have a T43 (2668-44M) running Windows XP SP2. I have an IBM P96 monitor.

I was running the following drivers:

I have been using a GretagMacbeth eye-one display 2 for calibration and it has been working well for over a year. When I boot the ThinkPad it starts with some kind of default profile and then after the desktop comes up I see it switch to the colour profile created by the display 2 (there's quite a bit of difference).

I have just upgraded the video driver to the latest on the Lenovo site:

Now, when the Windows starts it goes from the default, to the created colour profile but after a minute or 2 it changes again to something that is much brighter and bluer. I think it has something to do with ATI Catalyst Control Center but even after disabling it from startup I still see the changes.

How do I get back to using the calibrated colour profile?

I have backed out the driver update and I now have my calibration back.

Why the **** would ATI/AMD do that? Surely they understand that people want to calibrate their monitors.
