T41p doesn't turn on, only the batt diode flushes for a sec
Hello,
I have recently bought Ibm t41p (2373-geg). The problem is that when I try to turn it on, either on an AC adapter or only on the battery, it doesn't start at all. What You can observe is only the battery diode flushing for a second. Fortunately, when I managed to turn him on once, one could hear the fan working and the LCD was enlighten, but still it remained black, nothing was shown. I can add that on an AC adapter the battery is charged. I would be grateful for any suggestions on how I can repair it or at least where to look for the problem...Could it be the Ati FireGL T2 fault (I hope that if it would be so, at least I could see all the diodes to blink and the fan to work...)? Or it is rather one of the fuses or maybe some short-circuit that You have an idea where it could be:)

I would take a look on the inductors.

Screwdriver thank You very much for Your help!
My case seems to be quite similar. Unfortunately, in my case the inductors seems to be placed properly and applying a slight pressure on them doesn't change anything. But once again thanks for Your help, I will Your former post once again and generally get better informed about those inductors issue and I hope it will help!:)
Thanks a lot!

Hi there,
As far as I am concerned the inductors are mounted properly. On some other forum I was advised that the max 1845 and 1631 might be faulty. I still need to read much about the stuff, but after my first measurements it turned out that it may be the case. Do You also think it might be probable?

I meant Max1845 and Max1631. These are 28-pin integrated circuits, the first one located just under the keyboard connector, on the left side of the fan connector and below the inductors under the processor. I am just learning about this from some data sheets from google:), but I guess that in one sentence I could specify them as some voltage regulators. In my case the problem might be with the second one - the 1631 located between the north bridge and the hdd connector. But so far I am also gathering information about it...

Hello,
After handling the main board to the qualified service assistance they have diagnosed it as a malfunction of either the north or south bridge. They said that probably some current consuming device was connected to the usb port and now because of this the BGA of either north ot south bridge (or both) is damaged. They are going to perform reballing on it (quite common as far as the GPU repair is concerned). I guess that in 2 weeks time I would be able to tell You something more, whether it was a good assumption or not.
