Bringing back the battery icon?

#1 Post by akerman » Tue Jun 01, 2004 4:55 pm

Hey... the devil took hold of me yesterday, and I cleaned up the desktop totally - wanted to make it slick and stylish. But I also removed the green IBM battery icon (the one that's to the left of the system tray) - now I want it back, and I can't find out how... I have looked all the places I could think of - but I must have missed something :/

Btw - this is a great forum. No useless threads that drive me crazy, like on other forums :)

Start > Run - enter this:

%windir%\System32\RunDll32.exe C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\UTILIT~1\pwrmonit.dll,StartPwrMonitor

I'm not sure if that'll make it start every time, but I believe it does until you close it again.

edit:
Actually, here's a registry file that'll add it back to the list of things that run at startup:
http://home.clara.net/bob.hood/temp/bat ... imiser.reg
Just run that and it'll run at startup again.

Thanks for a quick answer!

Never had any idea it would be that difficult.. not very IBM-like.

Thanks again.

Maybe there's a simpler way and I just haven't seen it yet - I guess the IBM way of doing it would be by running the Battery Maximiser wizard again.

Yep, there's a checkbox in the Battery Maximiser wizard to turn it back on again.

Start > all programs > access IBM > Battery MaxMiser Wizard
clicking Next twice in that program and on that 3rd page you will see at the bottom show battery max miser gauge.
Then put a check in the box that says... show battery maxmiser gauge on task bar.
and go from there.

Right-clicking on the taskbar, and going to Toolbars...it's not there?

The battery icon is not nested as a "Toolbar" which is why you won't find it that way.
