ACK! Delayed bootup due to Wireless Card?
ACK! Delayed bootup due to Wireless Card?
Ok, I just got my T42p the other day with the IBM a/b/g card.
I wiped the harddrives and installed the OS fresh using the instructions in the FAQ. I'm running into this problem I had on my old laptop as well.
Now, when I boot up I run into this weird problem. The laptop boots to a normal screen with a start menu and everything but it is HUNG until the wireless card seems to "initialize". This problem also causes my computer to hang when coming out of hibernation mode as well. Does anyone know what this is or how to fix it?
Thanks.

The IBM 11 a/b/g card works perfectly with my T41, with Access Connections 3.53, and with the newest available drivers for the card. It works perfectly with the IBM Preload as comes from the box with all updates applied. Consider recovering the PC the way it came; update the drivers and update Access Connections. Then see where you stand. Works perfectly for me ... JD Hurst
From my experience, iirc:
SP1 + Access Connections +/- Wireless Zero config on = 120 second boot delay when connecting (or dropping) from a network on boot.
SP2 + Access Connections - WZC = 120 boot delay.
SP2 + AC + WZC = no boot delay.
The thing is, there was no boot delay if you reboot into the same wireless environment you shut off from, so I had a doozy of a time troubleshooting everything.
Download Microsoft Bootvis and see if "Network Delay" is stalling your system out.
