Q1U - UXGA vs SXGA+ - And the 2.1ghz

Hi Everyone!

I've been reading up on the latest TPs after I had a T30 from work (I had to give that one back - but I loved it)

I am currently thinking about the Q1U - I do a little bit of everything, web design, programming, (mostly web programming heh..), and of course a little bit of gaming, DVD-watching, and web-browsing when I get home or when I travel .

I really like the idea of the UXGA screen, and the FireGL T2 - but I'm not sure if I should wait for the T43... Or get a lower model...

What are your impressions on the SXGA+ vs UXGA LCDs - and do you think the 2.1ghz vs the 1.8 is that much of a difference? Also, is the Fire GL T2 vs the 9600 a big upgrade? (Other than the memory?)


(Normally with desktop processors I would say that there isn't that much difference, but I haven't used the Dothan or Banias core processors that much...)

BTW, I have a friend that works for IBM - So I can get this on the EPP, I think its ~$2780 right now...

If you don't need a notebook right now and can wait 2-3 months, get a T43p. If I didn't intend to get a T50p when I comes out in ~1 year then I would also be waiting for a T43p. Translation, if you intend to keep it for a long while, then wait for a T43p. If you are just going to get it and then buy another in a year, then no need to wait.

I'm curious - Does anyone know what the pricing will be for the T43/T43p?

(And will there be a $1500 discount on the EPP ?)

I usually keep my laptops for awhile, but with the impending release of Palladium and/or the Lenovo merger - the T50/T50p may be the last stronghold for true IBM notebooks... So I may end up buying one, not sure though.... Scary Stuff...

heh so I should wait for t43p? Hopefully good EPP pricing..
