DVD-R not recognized

#1 Post by lemmerdeur » Mon Jun 02, 2008 4:41 am

I am in Korea and purchased some DVD-R but the drive doesn't recognized them. I am using CDBurnerXP. It shows no disk when inserted. I want to copy pictures and movies done here for a friend. The DVD-R are 4.7gb and are for Movie, data, photo, games and music. Could it be the brand that is not compatible? The same brand (Wiselect in CD-R is working fine.

Looking at your signature, your drive is not a dvd burner....
If it is not, the dvd/cdrw drive will not even read a blank dvd-r

Some of the various flavors of DVDR media are not compatible with the older combo drives. Apparently the media is not reflective enough for the lasers to get a good reflected beam back to read it. As in lemmerdeur's experience one brand may work and another may not. YMMV.
