Boost Internal Microphone

Last week, doing a complete re-install on the T43, I am sure I found somewhere where I could boost the internal microphone signal level via a tick box. I want to tell my youngster how to boost hers, but I cannot find that tick box.

Anyone have any ideas, please, or have I confused it with something else?

Assuming XP.... control panel : sound & audio devices : audio tab : volume button (sound recording) : volume slider for mic recording level Or... Soundmax control panel and use the setup wizard for the microphone.

Many thanks Zdriver; the number of times I have been to the Soundmax control panel, but obviously not done the final step of 'Advanced'.

Actually, I know of the tick box he is looking for. It *does* exist:
1. Right click on your volume icon in the tray, open volume control.
2. Click the options menu and make sure 'Advanced Controls' is checked.
3. Click on 'Advanced' under 'Microphone'(If you cannot see the microphone controls, click the options menu > Properties and enable it)
4. Under the 'Advanced Controls for Microphone' window, the 'MIC Boost' checkbox is in the 'Other Controls' section.

Thanks RobbieThe1st; It amazes me how these things can be hidden (to the extent that some people do not know that there is an internal microphone, as Lenovo/IBM fail to mention it anywhere!)
