FlexView confusion

#1 Post by EvilTee » Tue Jun 01, 2004 11:17 pm

Why is everyone saying that a 15" T42 is a FlexView monitor and the 14.1" T42s are not? On the web site I see:

"Display/Graphics subsystem
External display supported Yes
Simultaneous external display Yes
Screen type description TFT FlexView display with wide viewing angle and high density
Viewable image size (diagonal) inches 14.1
Screen
illumination Backlit
Max colors or gray shades 16777216
Maximum Resolution 1400x1050
"

So where is this coming from that 14.1" is not FlexView? Is the IBM site a typo or are people giving out wrong info?

From what ppl say, there are minor typo's and mis-reported specs all over the ibm site. So use the tabook.pdf for accurate specs. You can find a link to it on this forum.

As all of us learned, IBM was/is having major problems with getting the correct information out about the screens. But the reality is that NONE of the 14" screens is Flexview, nor is the 15" XGA for that matter. The ONLY screens that are Flexview are the 15" SXGA+ and 15" UXGA. I apologize on behalf of IBM for IBM.com's error. ;)

The T42 14.1" SXGA+ 1400x1050 LCD is NOT FlexView. This is a fact. No need to keep discussing it over and over.

The sales person you "spoke" with is not to be faulted, he only has access to the same product description pages as the rest of us.

FWIW, none of the 14.1" displays are Flexview, period.

i have the 2378-FVU. unless flexview is horribly overrated and does not produce a contrasty, bright screen, the 14" svga+ is not flexview.

 My favorite part is this: "please disregard what other owners of ThinkPads say, as they are less informed and less knowledgeable than I am, sir." So guys, it looks as though we are those "less knowledgeable."
