Battery Health in Yellow Colour...

#1 Post by redsi » Thu Dec 16, 2004 10:47 am

Hi,

I have a T40 and my battery health is in yellow colour. My warranty will be expired next January. Do u think I can call IBM and replace the battery? I worked for Toshiba before and they can do that if the customer claims it's not holding battery power.

Pls let me know, thanks

You should call IBM
If you call IBM, maybe you can get new battery.
If you don't, you get nothing.

you need to fully discharge the battery

IBM instructions say to fully discharge the battery, and then fully recharge the battery without using the computer at all during recharge. I know there are different pieces of advice out there about whether fully to discharge or not, but doing so (and fully recharging without any computer use) when your battery is in the yellow seems appropriate. It worked for me.

I took back my Two month old T42p because the battery had a 12% wear after two months. It never charges more than 42 Wh (out of 47). they wouldn't replace it because it is still in the green but the guy hinted that because the battery is so bad now it will surely have 30% wear after one year (but still in warranty) and that's when they replace it. For sure.

I fianlly called IBM and the tech guy said he will send me a battery and I will hand him back the defective one, no problem. Should get it with 5 business days.

I got the battery finally and it's made by Sony. So far no problem with the transaction, thanks IBM before my warranty runs out next month :)
