Apologies if this question has been answered before. It seems like it should be a common question, but I can't find it here.

I'm contemplating an XP re-installation.

Is there some procedure to short-cut the upgrading of all the thinkvantage tools?

From previous attempts, the upgrade process doesn't seem to be that smooth.

I have the original recovery disks as well as an XP install CD.

I don't use the recovery partition at all.
