T41p with intel internal graphics?

#1 Post by Specter » Fri Jun 13, 2008 6:07 pm

There is an auction site here in Sweden that say they have a T41p with a 15" XGA screen and with intel internal graphics. I have been googling but have not been able to find anything but T41p:s with ATI Fire GL graphics. Alas, the auction site does not publish actual model numbers.

Was the T41p available with intel internal graphics and a 15" XGA screen?

Is there a good site where you can watch ThinkPad models that were available?

The T41P was never manufactured with Intel Graphics. For all models check out the ltwbook.

No on both counts - as you will see in Thinkwiki's entry about the T41p, it only came with a 14" SXGA+ (15" didn't make an appearance in the T4x series until the T42/p), and only was available with the FireGL T2. Do you have a link to this auction site? Seems like whoever's selling these has no idea whatsoever. IMHO the model number is essential if buying a TP off any auction site so that you can check the system specs with what is being listed.

Regarding watching TP models that were available, I assume that the ltwbook, tabook or tawbook may be what you're looking for (all available for download here). It'll confirm what T41p's (which are in the ltwbook) had inside them, plus other different TPs and their model numbers.

You can also reference the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the subsystems which were delivered with the laptop, as long as you get the TYPE number:

I'm guessing it is an R5x motherboard (which fits, physically)

Yes, I agree that having the model number is the way to go. Maybe I could get in contact with the auction site (which is www.it-auktion.se and it is in swedish) to get the model number. Problem is they don't answer calls during the weekend and the auction ends on sunday.

I am not really after another computer, but it could be nice to have the T41p - if it has the better graphics chip and a bigger screen. But if I cannot get the needed information from the auction site, I will be happy with my T42 also. :)

Thanks for the link to the ftp-site with documentation about models. I am however having terrible problems to go there. This is almost generally true for IBM (and Lenovo) sites in my opinion. I have tried the ftp-site intermittently the whole day now - with no luck.
