T30 Case Crack

Anyone know if it is possible to get a replacement part for a case? On the outer shell of the LCD, on the right side of the screen (outside edge of the laptop) there is a 1 1/2" piece of plastic hear the top that has cracked off on my thinkpad.

Is it possible to get a replacement?

yes, get the hardware maintenance manual (avail online), locate the correct part in the diagrams, then order from ibm parts..

How did it crack? Is it still under warranty? If so, then send it into IBM for repair (unless you dropped it).

I am really not sure how it cracked, I just noticed it.

It's out of warranty anyway though.

Are you really sure your warranty is up? I've been surprised several times thinking warranties were up until I went to the IBM site and did the "detect your computer," and found that warranty was still alive after what was suppose to be the expired time period. It's worth a check if you haven't already done so. If warranty is really out, then look around on eBay...also look at www.impactcomputers.com If not found there, then you may have to bite the bullet and contact IBM and pay them for a new one.
