I went from SP1 to SP3. Noticed some changes. Of the ones I can remember:

- slower performance (about 3-5%)
- greater security
- really like the wireless updates (including the neat new systray icon)
- occasional freezes at boot (never happened before but I added software which randomly changes the boot SCREEN so that may be the real culprit)

... and a few ther oddities can't recall right now, but no BIG trouble, glad I did it (and there was a FULL BACKUP just in case). Been running SP3 since it came out in April.

See I've heard of people having trouble with SP3 and wanted to know if there were any problems on the T4x. My problems so far are on the T2x, but I don't think I've tried installing it on a T4x yet.

here's my link to my problem on the T2x http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=64410

Let me know if you can share some insight on the problem.

I installed this and on my T42P and haven't noticed major issues with it. I used that application (can't remember the name) where you can take your XP disk and slipstream service pack 3 right along with it so you don't have to go through the really long installation process. It worked great and I have been able to do this on a few machines now.

I've installed SP3 on several machines and notice it boots a little bit quicker but that's all.

Whats the RECENT / UPDATED consensus for Windows XP Service Pack 3 SP3 on the T43 series of laptops?

I'd like answers specific to the T43 only.

It works fine on any T41 or T42 that I have tried. I fully expect it should work fine on a T43. I have SP3 running on my own T41 and my IBM NetVista desktop. ... JDH

I've had no issues whatsoever my on T43p. The only thing I did before I installed was make sure that all of my drivers, etc. were up to date. Access Connections works just fine. I haven't tried any of the other utilities than that, so I can't speak to those.

All in all, no issues and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend installing....

Planned upgrade: Bluetooth (yes, I do upgrades on my laptops!)

I went from SP2 + fixes to SP3 shortly after it became available for general download. No trouble at all. Took the usual precautions (full backup etc), of course.

Outwardly, no significant changes. Most of the work (see else-thread) is under the hood.
