#1 Post by kienbk8008vn » Mon Jul 14, 2008 4:30 am

Dear all!

I use IBM R52e, the old one so I lost recovery disks. The support disk complex with my lap-top.
Unfortunately, I still loss my hidden recovery partition on my hard disk when I loss main power in recovery working.

Can you help me to make a recovery disks then I can create a hidden recovery partition again.

Thank you and best regards.
Thank you

Have you tried upgrading/reinstalling R&R? That should give the option to burn a new set of recovery disks, if I recall correctly.

If the recovery partition is really gone, a new version of R&R will only make Rescue disks (for emergency start up), not recovery disks.

Here is a source for R52 recovery disks. Is there really an R52e?

Dear

Follow your link, I think it's not ok to buy these CDs 'cause I just want to create a hidden partition in my hard disk with un-license Win XP.
When I re-installed R&R. R&R will create a hidden folders, not hidden partition.

Any ways, thank for your words and I keep waiting any new instructions from you.
Thank you

Hello,
I don't understand what you are trying to do. From reading your first post, I thought that you were trying to recover your ThinkPad to factory condition but had no recovery partition or recovery disks. The disks shown in the link will get your R52 like it originally was. If you are going to use them, you first need to copy any data that is on your hard drive that you want to save.

Do you want to create a hidden partition but don't want to reinstall the factory image? Do you want to create the recovery partition but want to clean-install Windows from an OEM disk? What do you want the hidden partition to be able to do? If you can more clearly describe what you want to do and tell us about the current condition of your ThinkPad, we can be more helpful.

Brian

Note to any Mod who has too much time on their hands: Would it be alright to move this thread to the R,A,G conference? Thanks!

Sorry for mixing you up.

My machine is the old one with license WinXP. But one time, when I reovered my system, I loss power connection. As we know, that mean we loss hidden recovery partition in hard disk.

But before that, I loss my recovery CDs complex with machine box. Now you know my problem. From that time until now, I have to use un-license winXP but now I find the way to take back the licence with XP key change tool.

So, now I will install un-license winXP and change it to license winXP. Then I install all IBM support components include R&R. But I can not make a hidden partition like it before.

That's all what I want to express to you.

Especially thank for your consideration.
Thank you

When you press the "Access IBM" button during boot up, does anything happen? I don't know of another way to recreate the hidden partition exactly as it originally was except to use recovery disks. I have read threads here that refer to creating a similar hidden partition, but I don't think it works exactly the same. You would have to search the forum using the link at the top of the page.

What is your 7 character machine type and model number? For example, mine is 1849-8DU. I think there is one set of recovery disks that work for all R52 ThinkPads. If you decide to try recovery disks and don't want to buy them using the link I posted above, you could place a LF or WTB ad in the Marketplace here (That's "Looking For" or "Want to Buy"). If you want them in a language other than US English, state that as well. Some helpful person here should be able to get them to you for a reasonable cost.

I agree.
The recovery disks will help restore your system now - and also in the event of any future problems.
