Hi, I've had my 1.6 ghz t40 since August of 2003. Couple things i have noticed please comment on whatever you may know about these issues
1) My laptop runs slower when it's unplugged. Even when i set it to "high system performance" it runs slower. Shouldn't it technically run as fast since the CPU is set at maximum?
2) My cdrw/dvd no longer plays any dvd's besides region 0 dvd's. Weird.
3) Anything I can do about some static pops before some mp3's load? What's the deal?
4) Is it possible for the lcd to get kind of crooked or tilted or no? I might just be paranoid.
Thanks for any help you guys. I know some of these questions are dumb.
Problems with T40, any help appreciated

Maybe I can help:
Slower When Unplugged: Click once on the IBM Battery Maximizer Gauge (Green Battery Icon on taskbar). A menu should appear. Select "View Scheme Settings". You should be able to view the CPU settings for AC and Battery modes. Battery mode may be set to "adaptive" or "slow" in order to save power. Also check the BIOS settings.
DVD/Regions: No idea. Have you changed the playback software?
MP3 Static: No idea. My T40 does not exhibit this.
LCD Crooked: I'm not sure what you mean. Crooked and tilted in what place and what direction? I did noticed several months ago that my LCD cover (the magnesium part) has a very slight convex curvature to it from left to right, but it doesn't seem to have any effect on the machine.

Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

You can only change the region four times before it is locked. The system warns you each time you change the region (and there is a counter) This is locked in the optical drive's firmware and is true for all DVD drives (it is an industry wide policy) Software changes or system reinstalls will not change this-- it's permanent unless you can find the dvd firmware to reflash it; which most manufacturers don't share. Sounds like you've maxed it out.methdxman wrote: 2) My cdrw/dvd no longer plays any dvd's besides region 0 dvd's. Weird.
Your only choice now is software like DVDregionfree (www.dvdidle.com)
