Problems on wireless connection

My Thinkpad comes with a Atheros a/b/g wireless network card. When I use the default driver (the Philips one), I can see my AP (a USR 8011) but not Linksys 802.11b APs. While when I use the up to date driver (the IBM one), the situation is reversed. I don't know how to make my thinkpad see both APs without doing anything like changing the drivers when I am at different places. Any thoughts about this?
