How enable biometric for power-on password

#1 Post by WilsonF » Wed Dec 22, 2004 10:29 pm

I have a new T42p and the security chip and CSS/UVM software are installed. My fingerprint logs me on to Windows, but I can't get it to get me past the power-on & HDD passwords. Any idea how to do this? I have the box checked saying I want the fingerprint to replace the power-on & HDD passwords. Thanks.

wilson..

did you set the power on and HDD password..?
apparently you must do that first and then substitute fingerprint in its place or ADD fingerprint in addition to password..

OK. I figured it out.

However, I have problems logging on with fingerprints. It takes me many swipes. Apparently the orientation of my fingers (roll, pitch, yaw) changes more than the fingerprint scanner likes. Too bad it can't scan the other side of second finger of right hand, which developed a consistent orientation during my teen years that has lasted to the present day, particularly in response to boorish behavior by other drivers on the expressway.
