How do you keep the case clean?

Howdy,
Since my T42 and possibly your T series IBM has a black casing, mine has got really badly scratched on the outside.. Is there anyways or methods to clean the black eaisly scratched case? (and yes i am getting a carrying case

Windex will get the crud off, but once you've got scratches, they're there forever. Also, it seems that, like the keyboard or a pair of suede shoes, the top starts buffing up in places pretty fast, and it won't look new for very long. I gave up after about the first month.

hmm, protection huh? i wonder if anyone has tried nuvinyl, since it's a polymer made for plastic and rubber surfaces but unlike that wretched armour-all stuff leaves no residue and not much of dreaded shine ...

also it seems to me windex is probably the last thing to use based on its active ingredient(s), but similar products made for multiple surfaces *might* may be more appropriate -- i just use warm damp cloth.
