Access Connections shrunk to a stub- Locations Tab missing
Access Connections shrunk to a stub- Locations Tab missing
My t41 is three years old and my warranty expired two months ago. My HDD is almost full and while trying to create more space, I accidentially deleted Access Connections, thinking i was deleting Access IBM, which I never use.
Access Connections has worked well for me after I got the bugs worked out, so I would like to get it back.
I downloaded the Wireless LAN driver for Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter ver. 1.2.4.41 and installed it and I also downloaded the Thinkvantage Access Connections V 4.52 and installed it as well.
Now, when I press Fn+F5, the panel that pops up is small, it says "Change power settings of wireless radios" and there is no "LOCATIONS" tab, as before.
How can I get my Access Connections Locations back?
Thanks

I don't know how you removed Access Connections (add/remove or deleted the folder), but all of my profiles can be found in folder C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\ConnectUtilities, filename = PrevACProf.regedneff wrote:Now, when I press Fn+F5, the panel that pops up is small, it says "Change power settings of wireless radios" and there is no "LOCATIONS" tab, as before.

If you find this file on your laptop or on a backup, you may be able to merge these registry entries into your registry and get them back.
Just a guess on my part.
Registry changes are always "proceed at your own risk".
Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing AC?
I just installed it to solve a power issue when switching states with Fn+F5.

I cannot remember where the option is and don't currently use AC, but there should be a setting to choose if the location tab should be shown or not when pressing Fn-F5. I do believe this settings is to be found in the AC client somewhere. Check out preferences, settings and stuff like that in AC and i'm sure you will find it.
As far as i understand the problem is not that the profiles is missing, but the location tab when pressing Fn-F5 is missing which is a setting to enable/disable somewhere.....i do believe the option is to be found in AC.
Edit: I just did a google and found that the setting i under "Global Settings" in AC and you have to check the checkbox "Allow selection of location profiles with Fn-F5 on screen display menu".

I've had problems with AC 4.52.

Only solution I've found is to uninstall AC via 'Add or Remove programs', reinstall the drivers(from /Drivers/WIN/WLLANINT) and set up using MS.
As soon as you try reinstalling AC the card disappears again.
Just tried AC 5.0 - same result.
